From Sea to Shining Sea

>

Made from four yards of Judy Robertson's hand dyed fabrics (www.justimagination.com) and a little bit of commercial batik, the colors reminded me of the words from America, the Beautiful: For purple mountain majesties, for amber waves of grain. This in turn led to the quilting design, which features the undulations of the waves of grain, mountains and seas, the words from America, the Beautiful, and an updated version of the traditional quilted feathered vine. The central motif, the American eagle, is my version of the eagle on the U.S. quarter coin.

51x51 inches, completed May 2004.

Exhibited in the Boothbay Harbor Quilt Show, Boothbay Harbor, Maine, 2004.

$ 3,800.00
